SHINee's Key and BoA recall the strict diets during their trainee days

 On a recent episode of JTBC's 'Take Care of My Refrigerator,' BoA and SHINee's Key basked in the memories of their foregone trainee days.

Both singers lightheartedly expressed discontent over their past stringent diet restrictions which prohibited the two from eating any food that they so desired.

When MC Kim Sung Joo asked Key whether there were any instances during his trainee days that made him dejected because he wasn't allowed to eat certain foods, the Key answered, "My body is actually not naturally slim. I'm the type to immediately gain weight. So the company allowed members who are naturally slim like Taemin and Jonghyun to eat whatever they want. While they would order things like Chicken  Katsu and Tonkatsu, Onew and I ate things like fish cakes and dwenjang jiigae [soybean stew]. I really really wanted to eat that Chicken Katsu and Tonkatsu."

BoA related all too well to Key's story and told everyone on the show about a past company outing for trainees where only she wasn't allowed to eat. She told the MC panel, "All the trainees were taken out to a restaurant to be treated one time and while all the other trainees like Jang Na Ra and Fly to the Sky were ordering stuff like rib eye and fried rice, I was told 'Don't eat.' At a young age, I was hurt by such a comment."

Fortunately, the singer's sad story had a happy ending as she told everyone, "After debut, when I was making a lot of money with 'No. 1,' I went back to the restaurant and ate four plates of food all by myself," making the studio ring with laughter at her cute rebellious act.

Key talks about diets + keeps a girl's headband in his fridge?

SHINee's Key appeared on JTBC's 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator' on July 27 to talk about the diets he had tried out so far.

Before the contents of his refrigerator were revealed, Key stated, "Since I was a trainee, there was no diet I haven't tried.  Unlike the other members of SHINee, I'm the type that needs to always attend to my body."

His refrigerator then revealed a bunch of low-calorie foods, and Key continued, "For my diet, it's been half a year now since I've eaten carbohydrates," raising interest.

BoA replied, "I can't live like that," while the MCs and chef stated, "It seems like you're the idol who does the best job of maintaining yourself."  Key stated, "I want to eat as much as I want for one day."

Another surprising thing that was revealed with the opening of his refrigerator, however, was a girl's headband!  He had been asked if this was the dorm's fridge, but he had stated it was his personal one from his own home.

The MCs took out a flower headband and asked, "What is this?  Isn't this a girl's headband?"  Key simply explained, "Somebody gave me flowers as a gift, so I put them in the fridge."
